Update 2.11 – New German Tank Destroyers!

If you remember correctly, the last German tanks were added to the game in Update 2.6. Back then, we announced the arrival of the new Light Tanks. Now, with Update 2.11 on the horizon, it’s time to introduce another fine piece of German engineering. Ladies and gents, please give a warm welcome to the new German Tank Destroyers that are proud to reinforce the German Tech Tree. Six bold and fearsome machines will be added to the game, finishing with the Grille 15 at Tier X.

  • Pz.Sfl. IVc (Tier V)
  • Nashorn (Tier VI)
  • Sturer Emil (Tier VII)
  • Rhm.-Borsig Waffenträger (Tier VIII)
  • Waffenträger auf Pz. IV (Tier IX)
  • Grille 15 (Tier X)

You may ask what are the differences between the two Tank-Destroyer lines in the German Tech Tree? Well, first of all, in most cases, the new tanks are more mobile. Secondly, they are really poorly armoured, so don’t expect to bounce any shells coming your way. You will notice the other important difference at Tier VIII – it is the first German Tank Destroyer with a fully traversable gun! Being able to shoot your opponents without moving the hull is quite the advantage, right? When it comes to the guns, they are exactly like you would expect from the Germans – accurate and powerful. The tank marking the end of the new line is the Grille 15 – let’s take a closer look at it:

Grille 15

The tank has been designed on the chassis of the Panther. It is armed with a huge 15 cm cannon that is placed on the rear of the vehicle. If we were to describe the gun briefly, we would go with extremely accurate and powerful. Dealing massive amounts of damage with surgical precision is what every tank destroyer driver desires! And if that was not enough, the turret allows it to fire at its enemies without moving the whole tank. Oh, and we almost forgot to add that the tank is incredibly fast, which allows it to change positions in no time! It could be one of the fastest tank destroyers in the game and it’s a Tier X! It seems like it has no drawbacks at all …

Well, unfortunately, it does. Let’s start with the armour – it’s almost non-existent. It can be penetrated by literally anything, even HE shells, so we advise avoiding enemy shells like fire. Now, let’s move to the camo rating. Despite the tank being small, its camo value is worse than its predecessor’s - the Waffenträger auf Pz. IV. Therefore, one has to pick positions on the map wisely in order not to get spotted after every single shot. The other drawback is the not-fully-traversable gun, which makes the vehicle a bit tricky to handle in certain situations. Finally, the module damage is really a pain. Since the armour is extremely poor, expect everyone to shoot your gun shield. Not only will they damage the tank but also break your gun.

In conclusion, the Grille 15 is a great and fun vehicle to play, that is a serious threat when in capable hands. It performs best as a long range supporter. Use its fantastic speed to relocate quickly and stay safe; and use its extremely good gun to devastate your opponents with no mercy!
