STORE: A Legend Has Returned!

Yup, you’ve guessed it right: the iconic Type 59, a true legend and one of the most desirable vehicles and a persistent dream of many World of Tanks PC players, is now available, once again, for EVERYONE in Blitz!

A little bit of history

The Type 59 is a Chinese vehicle that was primarily a copy of the Soviet T-54A medium tank. The tank started its duty in 1959. The first vehicles that were manufactured had neither a gun stabiliser nor a night-vision device. Some time later, the vehicle underwent several modernisations. From 1958 through 1987, between 6,000 and 9,500 vehicles of all variants were manufactured.

Now, without further ado, let’s take a look together at how the Legend presents itself directly on the battlefields of World of Tanks Blitz!

One doesn’t really have to present this vehicle as the name speaks for itself. However, have you ever wondered why this tank is so popular and desired? It doesn’t really excel in any field. Why is it then that so many players want it? Basically, the Type 59 is a well-crafted all-rounder, and what players want is its unmatched versatility and resilience.

The vehicle combines decent armour, good gun characteristics and acceptable mobility. Focusing on the armour, it might be very tricky for lower or even equal Tier enemy medium and light tanks to penetrate it. The 100 mm frontal hull has great angles, which along with the very thick and well-sloped turret is capable of bouncing many incoming shots. However, the sides of the hull are rather thin and vulnerable—especially its right side where the ammo rack is located. Make sure to protect them well or you may end up with a damaged or even blown up ammunition rack.

Moving to the gun, the tank features a decent 100 mm cannon. It doesn’t excel in any characteristic, but it’s definitely trustworthy. In other words, it has good penetration, an average damage per shot, a decent rate of fire and a fairly good aiming time. All in all, you can make it work. However, the main advantage of its armament, compared to the Soviet T-54 for example, is a gun depression that you can use to fight your way through hilly terrain. The gun performs best in close-quarters combat, rather than long-range sniping.

When it comes to its mobility, it’s also decent. While the acceleration is not that great, it's still good for something as armoured as it is, and the vehicle has a high top speed, allowing it to flank enemy tanks with ease. Always try to gain momentum before going into the fight and you will be a great threat!

In conclusion, the legendary Type 59 is a jack-of-all-trades that is a must have for every tank commander out there! On top that, it’s also the ultimate credit machine, that will be a blessing for your in-game budget!

The iconic Type 59 will be available from 22 September at 12:00 CEST (UTC+2) to 30 September at 11:00 CEST (UTC+2).
