Update 2.4 – Shogun Warriors: A new nation is coming!

Today, we would like to present you the new Japanese tech tree that is going to be implemented with Update 2.4. It will consist of 13 light and medium tanks, finishing with the STB-1 on Tier X:

  • Renault Otsu (Tier I Light Tank)
  • Chi-Ni (Tier II Medium Tank)
  • Ha-Go (Tier II Light Tank)
  • Ke-Ni (Tier III Light Tank)
  • Chi-Ha (Tier III Medium Tank)
  • Ke-Ho (Tier IV Light Tank)
  • Chi-He (Tier IV Medium Tank)
  • Chi-Nu (Tier V Medium Tank)
  • Chi-To (Tier VI Medium Tank)
  • Chi-Ri (Tier VII Medium Tank)
  • STA-1 (Tier VIII Medium Tank)
  • Type 61 (Tier IX Medium Tank)
  • STB-1 (Tier X Medium Tank)

As you can see, you will have the choice between two classes right at the beginning, and while the low-tier light tanks are obvoiusly quite fast and lightly armed, the medium tanks sacrifice mobility in favour of higher firepower. High-tier vehicles of this line usually feature high firepower and good mobility, but not much armour, therefore they will have to be played as support vehicles. We have collected secret intel from two of the most popular Japanese medium tanks:

  • Hit Points: 970
  • Hull Armour:
  1. Front: 75 mm
  2. Sides: 35 mm
  3. Rear: 35 mm
  • Turret Armour:
  1. Front: 75 mm
  2. Sides: 50 mm
  3. Rear: 50 mm
  • Weight: 32.28 t
  • Engine Power: 400 hp
  • Speed Limit: 45 km/h
  • Traverse Speed: 35 deg/s
  • Turret Traverse Speed: 36 deg/s
  • Standard Shell Damage: 120 – 200 HP (avg. 160 HP)
  • Standard Shell Penetration: 116 – 194 (avg. 155 mm)
  • Rate of Fire: 10.34 rounds per minute
  • Aiming Time: 2.1 s
  • Dispersion at 100 m: 0.38 m
  • View Range: 240 m

The Chi-To might not be the fastest or best-armoured vehicle, but its gun will definitely tear to pieces any opponent who dares to underestimate it. The play style will be just like most other medium tanks – fight off other medium tanks, and flank tank destroyers and heavy tanks. However, be careful! As mentioned before, the armour is quite thin, therefore you should not lead the charge, especially when you are at the bottom of the list.

  • Hit Points: 1850
  • Hull Armour:
  1. Front: 110 mm
  2. Sides: 35 mm
  3. Rear: 25 mm
  • Turret Armour:
  1. Front: 132 mm
  2. Sides: 132 mm
  3. Rear: 37 mm
  • Weight: 37.40 t
  • Engine Power: 750 hp
  • Speed Limit: 53 km/h
  • Traverse Speed: 52 deg/s
  • Turret Traverse Speed: 42 deg/s
  • Standard Shell Damage: 263 – 438 HP (avg. 350 HP)
  • Standard Shell Penetration: 194 – 323 (avg. 259 mm)
  • Rate of Fire: 7.79 rounds per minute
  • Aiming Time: 2.1 s
  • Dispersion at 100 m: 0.36 m
  • View Range: 270 m

The STB-1 marks the end of the Japanese medium tank line, and will soon be a respected ally and a feared opponent on the battlefield. Its great mobility allows you to reach any position quickly, and flank enemy heavy tanks and tank destroyers effectively. The armour is quite good, especially when you have played all the previous tanks of this line, and thanks to the slope there is a good chance to deflect enemy shells. The gun depression is good enough to just show your sloped and small turret in most cases while you are shooting them with your APCR shells. The firepower is good enough to compete against any other medium tank, and the view range is amazingly high. The STB-1 can fit into pretty much any role, and will be a very powerful addition to your arsenal.
